Round Rock located in Williamson County, Texas, 19 miles (30 kilometers) north of Austin, in the central Texas hill country. The community took its name from a large rock set in the middle of Brushy Creek, on whose banks the community was founded. The famous cattle trail, the Chisholm Trail, passed through Round Rock on its way north to Kansas. Round Rock has the nickname "The Sports Capital of Texas" and the range and number of sporting facilities and parks are testament to residents' love of sports. For more outdoor activity, head to nearby state parks, such as Inks Lake and Lake Somerville State Park and Trailway .
