Simcoe, Ontario

Combine urban and rural life in Simcoe, a town of 14,175, set a few minutes from the north shore of Lake Erie and a half-hour from Hamilton. Simcoe is now part of the municipality of Norfolk County, which is made up of several small towns and townships.

Simcoe offers lots of occasions for its residents to gather together. Country singers will love August's Canadian Open Country Singing Contest.

In December, the Simcoe Christmas Panorama of Lights attracts visitors from all over. With more than 70 displays decorating the majestic Lynn River, it's not hard to imagine why. Kids love the Annual Ice Cream Festival, held in Simcoe because the town is also the home of Canada's largest ice cream plant, Good Humor-Breyers.

And events like the Friendship Festival and the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show help the community retain it's warm, small-town feel. The largest urban center in Norfolk, Simcoe is also known for its superb parks systems. Go for a stroll through Wellington or Clifton, or, if you want to play a round of golf, there's 27 holes waiting for you at the Greens at Renton.

A beautiful town in gorgeous southwestern Ontario, you'd be wise to take a good look at Simcoe.
