The city of Sunnyvale is located on the banks of San Francisco Bay, in the San Jose-Sunnyvale metropolitan area.

An integral part of the Silicon Valley, Sunnyvale is home to the headquarters of high tech companies such as AMD, Lockheed Martin, and Yahoo! It's also one of the safest cities in America, according to Morgan Quitno's annual rankings of cities and metropolitan areas.

Two museums dedicated to preserving the history of two very different industries/interests are located in downtown Sunnyvale: the Iron Man Museum and the Lace Museum. Also located in Sunnyvale is the Onizuka Air Force Station, home of the United States Air Force Space Command and the only active military base in the region.

Every June, Sunnyvale hosts its annual of Art & Wine Festival, a celebration of local artists and craftspeople, as well an opportunity to sample the best wines from the region.

If you want to get outside, you can head to a beach, enjoy one of the city's more than 20 parks, or head out a bit further afield to hike, boat, or fish at places like the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. And with Sunnyvale's location in the San Francisco Bay Area, indoor amenities won't be lacking, either.
