Tempe, Arizona

Set in the grandeur of the great outdoors, Tempe, with its population of 158,625, is a true gem. Located in the southern part of Arizona, it's a mere 14 miles (23 kilometers) southeast of the bustling state capital, Phoenix, so you get the tranquility of a smaller city, with easy access to all the amenities of a cosmopolitan center. Tempe itself, however, also has plenty to offer: Why not take a leisurely stroll through the famous Arizona State University's Art Museum, and discover some of the local and contemporary art for yourself. And, with its ever-changing photo exhibitions, you'll delight in the smaller Northlight Gallery.

If being indoors really isn't your thing, then head out to the surrounding countryside. Try out the rafting on Salt River, ballooning over the valley, or some trekking through the magnificent Desert Botanical Garden.

Now that all this activity has made you hungry, don't forget to drop by The House of Tricks for some of their delectable seared Ahi tuna with arugula pesto, served in a groovy setting.
