Tooele, Utah, is situated at the foot of the Oquirrh Mountains, 34 road miles (55 kilometers) southwest of Salt Lake City. It is the seat of Tooele County, and home to 22,502 residents.

One tradition says that the community's name comes from an Indian word for rushes and reeds, and another says that the city was named after an Indian chief. Either way, you can learn all about the city's origins and history at the Tooele Pioneer Museum, the Tooele Valley Railroad Museum, the Barrick Mining Museum, and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum.
