Vermont is home to maple syrup, ice cream (it's the home of Ben & Jerry's), beautiful 4-season outdoors, and bountiful outdoor activities, and may be the best place in America to raise your family.

The name Vermont stems from the French words vert and monts or green mountains. Not surprisingly, the state song is named "These Green Mountains."

As one of America's prime ski destinations, the state is the ideal healthy-living haven. What better way to spend your summers than camping in the hills or boating on the lakes and your winters sliding down the ski slopes, going cross-country, or hiking through the sugar maples! The highest point is Mount Mansfield at 4,393-feet (1,338-meters) tall.
