Wellesley, which is located only about 13 miles (21 kilometers) west of downtown Boston, is primarily a residential community. However, this community of 26,613 is best known as a college town that's home to Babson College, to the main campus of Mass Bay Community College, and to Wellesley College, which is one of the famous "Seven Sisters" women's liberal arts colleges. The town's Parks and Recreation Department operates sports leagues, summer camps, facilities, and parks for residents to enjoy, including the Morses Pond, which has a beach that's open daily during the summer. The department also runs a series of summertime concerts on the town hall green. Wellesley is also the site of the 36-acre (14.6-hectare) Elm Bank Horticulture Center.
