The affluent residential community of West Vancouver is just a short commute across the Lions Gate Bridge from downtown Vancouver. It's nestled in between Horseshoe Bay/Howe Sound to the west, Burrard Inlet to the south, and the Coast Mountains to the north.

West Vancouver's Whytecliff Marine Park, a marine protected area, is located on the western edge of the community. Visitors can walk along the park's beaches or trails, which overlook Howe Sound. More adventurous visitors can scuba dive to check out the park's marine life. And just east of West Vancouver lies Capilano River Regional Park. The park contains Vancouver's oldest tourist attraction, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which sits an amazing 70 meters (230 feet) above Capilano River!

And, of course, nearby Whistler Blackcomb is one of the world's top skiing destinations – and is a site of the 2010 Olympics.
