White Rock, British Columbia

The pleasant community of White Rock is situated 45 kilometers (28 miles) southeast of Vancouver and is part of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. The city of 18,250 located on the warm, shallow waters of Semiahmoo Bay.

The two focal points of the city are the eight-kilometer (five-mile) long sandy beach and the 2.5-kilometer (1.5-mile) promenade. The two run parallel to each other and are flanked by shops and restaurants. With a mild climate and an easygoing attitude, it's not surprising that the festival season here runs year-round. Some of the more popular events in this busy venue are the Spirit of the Sea Festival and the Tour de White Rock race.

Many of the residents who live in White Rock commute to Vancouver for work. Dedicated bus and commuter lanes help ease the commute, which, during rush hour, generally takes an hour. White Rock provides easy access to both the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean and is only five minutes from the Canada/US border and two hours from Seattle, Washington.
