Simon Fox

Simon J. K. Fox has been the Executive Director of the Adventures in Caring Foundation since 1986. Simon, along with his wife Karen, has built the Adventures in Caring Foundation into a nationally respected organization, best known for its all-volunteer Raggedy Ann & Andy patient care program for patients in hospitals and nursing homes. In 24 years the Program has made more than one million visits – so that people haven't had to face the challenge of a serious illness or injury alone. President Bush recognized these efforts in 1991 with his Point of Light Award. Simon is co-author of the book, What Can I Say? and co-producer of the best-selling video, "Communicating with Compassion." He was awarded the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics 2002 Health Care Heroes Award. In 2004 Simon won the International Health & Medical Media Award for co-producing the best video in patient care, "The Medicine of Compassion." Simon is also a National Advisory Committee member for the American Trauma Society and last year developed and tested the instructors materials and train-the-trainer program for the Society's new 2nd Trauma Program on the art of communicating with the families of trauma patients.
