Extending the world-class care of the duPont Hospital for Children, the Nemours Children´s Clinic provides convenient community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems across the Delaware Valley.   The Research Assistant I performs a primary research role in the laboratory and conducts original research for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory.  Performs a range of experiments and data analysis under the direction of Lab Head or Research Associate.  Assists with maintenance and operations in the laboratory.  Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and manuscripts.  Maintains both handwritten and computerized records of work performed. 1.         Perform experiments using a range of molecular biological, biochemical and cell biological techniques under the direction of the Lab Head or Research Associate. 2.         Assist with maintenance and operations in the laboratory in which these studies occur. 3.         Data analysis and the production of oral and written reports, participation in team meetings at which the work will be discussed and planned. 4.        Assist in genotyping transgenic mice. Assist the Lab Head in preparation of research proposals to external funding agenciesJOB REQUIREMENTS: Candidates with strong technical skills and demonstrated excellence in cell and molecular biology approaches, as well as small animal genotyping experience are encouraged to apply to join this multidisciplinary research effort; a bachelor´s degree is required. The Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, with a long-established and excellent reputation in pediatric health care, draws a broadly diverse patient population. The hospital, supported in part through an endowment from the Nemours Foundation, continues to grow both regionally and nationally.The Post Doctoral Fellow will design and conduct original research for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory.  With the consent of the Lab Head or Center Director, the Post Doctoral Fellow is able to apply as Principal Investigator for externally funded grants.  In addition, the Post Doctoral Fellow may assist with routine laboratory management work as requested by the Laboratory Head or Center Director.     1.          Independent performance of experiments using a range of molecular biological, and cell biological techniques including live cell microscopy and instruction and guidance to     others in these techniques. 2.           Assist with maintenance and operations in the laboratory in which these studies occur. 3.          Data analysis and the production of oral and written reports, participation in team meetings at which the work will be discussed and planned. 4.          Write draft grant proposals and manuscripts. 5.          Assist the Lab Head in preparation of research proposals to external funding agencies. 6.          Participation in collaborative projects with other laboratories.  JOB REQUIREMENTS: A grant-funded postdoctoral fellowship to study growth factor signaling in cancer is immediately available at the newly established Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. The Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow for the High-Throughput Screening and Drug Discovery Lab in the Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research. The successful candidate will conduct research aimed at discovering small molecules that reverse the loss of epigenetic control that promotes the progression of leukemias harboring MLL fusion proteins. The project will focus on inhibition of the interactions between the MLL fusion proteins and downstream effectors such as transcription factors and histone methyltransferases. The ultimate goal is to develop targeted therapeutic agents for MLL fusion-positive pediatric leukemias. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to become an expert on the relevant primary literature, and to play a significant role in developing project strategy. A successful outcome to the project will require the development and validation of biochemical and cell-based assays for High-Throughput Screening (HTS), and the identification and further characterization of active compounds discovered by HTS.1.
