The Institute for Aging Research in Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is one of the most prestigious aging research facilities in the country. HSLs NewBridge on the Charles, our premier multigenerational continuing care retirement community in Dedham, consists of 256 independent living units, 50 assisted living units, 41 memory support assisted living units, and a 268-bed Health Care Center, which offers long-term and sub-acute care. Hebrew SeniorLife also offers services to the community, including Adult Day Health programs and outpatient clinics in audiology, exercise, memory disorders, osteoporosis screening, and rehabilitation.The Aging Brain Center, part of the Institute for Aging Research, currently has an exciting opportunity for a Research Nurse. This would be a great fit for someone with strong leadership skills and who is highly self-motivated. In this role, your main responsibility will be recruiting and conducting interviews with elderly patients for a large multi-project, multi-site study, including cognitive assessments, neuropsychological testing, and medical record review. You may have administrative coverage responsibilities including oversight and management of research assistants, trainees, and other staff. You will also provide for the safety of elderly research participants throughout research interactions and visits; assess participants for fatigue and adverse events, and report participant hazards and adverse events to Project Director.Qualifications: - BSN required, with at least 2-3 years of prior research experience, and at least 2-3 years of nursing experience. - You must be experienced in clinical epidemiologic interviews and medical record abstraction. Phlebotomy experience preferred. - You must be able to manage the special needs of a frail senior population, for example: assessing and addressing fatigue and assessing and providing for comfort during study procedures. - You must also have computer skills, MS Word, Internet and Email; familiarity with Excel and MS Access are preferable. - Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interviewing skills are essential. - You should also have working knowledge of the regulations governing the conduct of human studies research. - Previous experience working with seniors, and conducting physical cognitive assessments, are preferred. - You will also need to provide your own transportation to and from patients homes.Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) is an equal opportunity employer, and we offer a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit package, as well as many opportunities for personal and professional growth.
