Ph.D. graduates should have education and interests in epidemiology, computer modeling, informatics or simulation. The primary appointment for this position will be in the Division of Epidemiology. A multitude of opportunities for collaborative research exist in areas such as clinical and public health decision support systems, computer-based surveillance, and modeling of infectious diseases transmission at the University of Utah and Salt Lake City Veterans Health Care System.

Consider joining as a public health officer (PHO). PHOs in the Air Force prevent disease, disability and premature death by conducting epidemiologic surveillance and response, analyzing communicable environmental/occupational diseases, overseeing food safety programs and establishing prevention and control strategies. Youll have the option to travel and do your job in places like Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Korea, Germany and England. In addition, youll work in a team environment with some of the most highly trained professionals in medicine.
