POSITION PURPOSE:Continuously exemplifies the mission, values and customer service philosophy of PeaceHealth in job performance and in relationships to others. This position works under limited supervision, and is responsible for assuring that proper preventive maintenance and necessary repairs are performed on generic, specialized, and complex clinical equipment that is included in the hospital medical equipment management program.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Education:-High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a two year Associates Degree Program in Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent. Certification:-AMIE or BMET certification as a Bio-Medical Electronics Technician. Valid Alaska State drivers license.Experience:-Minimum of five years work experience as a Bio-Med Tech in a clinical engineering department.-Extensive training on systems in designated area.-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.-Computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel.-Knowledge of both Analog and Digital electronics. Occasionally lifting of up to 50 lbs., infrequent lifting of greater than 50 lbs. Possible fast paced and challenging situations. Extended periods of time standing and/or walking. Climb ladders, stairs and work in crawl spaces. Ability to respond to emergency codes, fire, show of force and disaster. Occasional exposure to potentially lethal high voltage. Occasional driving of PeaceHealth vehicles. Essential Duties:-Inspect, test, evaluate and perform preventive maintenance on all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment included in the equipment maintenance program.-Phone system.-Assures that all work is performed in accordance with established standards and meets regulatory requirements.-Respond to all stat calls and emergency calls related to equipment included in the program. -Maintain written and computerized maintenance records, repair and man-hour documentation.-Repair, test and perform maintenance as directed on non-clinical equipment.-Designs and develops inspection procedures for all equipment in specified areas. -Promotes a safety-conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices.-Assists in pre-purchase specifications of designated clinical systems.-Participates in the evaluation of new products.-Makes appropriate modifications to test procedures when necessary.-Maintains updated knowledge and instructs other Biomedical staff on specific devices in the Medical Center.-May prepare classes on and instruct in electrical safety.-Provides direction to and/or instruction or assistance to other Bio-Med Techs as required. -Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age.-Performs other duties as required or assigned.
