The Clinical Research Specialist will be responsible for coordinating research studies for the Program for Medical Practices Research (PMPR), under the supervision of the Medical Director. Research will include retrospective evaluations of drug utilization and clinical practice in the hospital, as well as improvement projects in the general area of antibiotic use and infectious disease. The focus of PMPR studies will expand to include ambulatory patients and clinical practice in areas unrelated to infectious disease. The Clinical Research Specialist will assist with study design, data collection, statistical analysis, and writing. His or her role will grow to become an interdepartmental liaison, evaluating, coordinating, and facilitating diverse clinical research projects conducted by other Clinic staff. This individual will function both as a resource person and educator.Qualifications Education and Training: Masters Degree in Science, Public Health, or Biostatistics desirable, or college with significant research experience. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Strong organizational and communication skill, ability to function independently and to devise creative ways of obtaining information, knowledge of medical terminology and medical practice, ability to interact with professional personnel at all levels, knowledge of computer databases and knowledge of computer word processing systems and statistics programs (SPSS, BMDP, or SAS desirable). In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards. Experience: Two or more years experience in clinical research and/or clinical care.
