Implements innovative pathology-based approaches and techniques to solve issues of toxicological concern. Provides investigative pathology support to Discovery Programs. Stays abreast of current literature and trends. Accomplished in working under SOPs in a GLP environment.Provides pathology support for Development projects. Designs and reviews nonclinical protocols based on scientific rationale and/or regulatory guidelines. Supervises conduct of in house necropsy or serves as pathology monitor for CRO studies. Conducts anatomic and clinical pathological and organ weight evaluation and ensures integration of this data with pharmacologic, in-life, toxicokinetic and macroscopic data in discussion/conclusions. Nemours BrightStart!s research program, using a model of T1 to T4 translational research, focuses on prevention of reading failure, especially in young children. The College of Pharmacy has a very active Center for Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine involving strong collaborations with many outstanding researchers at other national and international universities. Following procedures established by the Section Heads, laboratory management and the pathologist directors, a Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of laboratory tests in many areas of the laboratory, including High Complexity Tests as defined by CLIA. A CLS is responsible for accuracy and reporting of results of application of principles, theories and techniques, professional judgment, computer proficiency, microscopic proficiency, and good communications skills.Qualifications Education: • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university with a major in the biological or chemical sciences as required Licenses/Certificates: • Valid Clinical Laboratory License preferred

Performs and interprets moderate and high complexity tests, reports results and prepares blood products following standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices. Monitors pending lists. Meets or exceeds turn-around time goals for test production and result reporting. Performs instrument and equipment calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. Serves as a technical resource including problem solving, troubleshooting, interpreting/consulting and verifying specimen quality and test results. Serves as a preceptor/mentor to students, residents and staff. Performs other duties as needed.
