Dana Farber Cancer Institute is seeking two Research Operations Managers for two of its largest Divisions within the Department of Medical Oncology; The Division of Molecular and Cellular Oncology and the Division of Hematologic Neoplasia.The responsibilities of these positions will include, but not be limited to, designing division procedures to ensure smooth operations and compliance with Institute policy in areas of materials and general facilities management, laboratory safety (EH&S, Radiation and OPRS), and human resources. The Research Operations Manager will coordinate across all DFCI service departments and Research Administration to carry out these responsibilities and collaborate with division investigators to assess short and long-range needs regarding research technologies and facilities. The Division Operations Manager will provide scientific input on central equipment purchases and maintenance and laboratory operational services. This person will supervise the management of shared scientific equipment, storage facilities (freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks), electronic databases and core support areas (such as the conference rooms and glass washing facility) and coordinate the ordering of bulk division supplies. The Research Operations Manager will support the division leader and division investigators to ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of the unit. The Division Research Operations Manager will work independently and collaboratively with the respective Division Administrators and designated representatives from each research group and make decisions regarding core equipment installation, upkeep and maintenance. He/she will also assist in strategic planning, space analysis and facilities reorganization. The Division Research Operations Manager will spend 50% of his/her time on Division matters and the remaining 50% effort on laboratory administration for an individual research group.The successful candidate will possess a minimum of an MS in a scientific field or equivalent, although a PhD is preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in investigative laboratory research and/or research operations. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required to be successful in this position.

The successful candidate will have research experience in the area of cardiac mitochondrial physiology, cardioprotection and mitochondrial calcium and potassium regulation, and experience teaching and/or mentoring junior faculty. The candidate must have a doctoral degree, and credentials that include national/international recognition in the field and a track record of peer-reviewed publications and grant funding. Candidate must have computational experience, and excellent written and oral communication skills.A competitive salary and benefits package, including relocation assistance is provided. Postdoctoral Fellow�Pathogenesis of HIV InfectionThe National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), Laboratory of Immunoregulation (LIR), HIV-Specific Immunity Section (HSIS) is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to participate in basic and clinical research in the pathogenesis of HIV infection.DIR�s mission is to design, initiate, and conduct important basic science and clinical investigations in cutting-edge areas of infectious diseases and allergy/immunology, particularly those of major public health importance. The scientific research program of HSIS is focused on investigating humoral immunity in HIV infection. There is a growing consensus that effective vaccines for HIV will require a humoral response capable of recognizing diverse isolates. The laboratory has recruited a cohort of patients with a broad and potent neutralizing antibody response to HIV. Sera and cells from these patients are being used in state-of-the-art assays for neutralization, sorting, and single-cell expansion of antigen-specific B cells and for cloning and expression of immunoglobulin genes to better understand the basis of the neutralizing antibody response to HIV. Applicants should have a Ph.D. Experience in measuring humoral immune responses in humans or animals and basic molecular biology techniques is desirable. The project will focus on inhibition of the interactions between the MLL fusion proteins and downstream effectors such as transcription factors and histone methyltransferases. The ultimate goal is to develop targeted therapeutic agents for MLL fusion-positive pediatric leukemias. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to become an expert on the relevant primary literature, and to play a significant role in developing project strategy. A successful outcome to the project will require the development and validation of biochemical and cell-based assays for High-Throughput Screening (HTS), and the identification and further characterization of active compounds discovered by HTS.1.
