of Denver, CO. With more than 340 beds and 450 doctors
on staff, the center specializes in heart and vascular
care, surgical services, women’s services, cancer

and stroke care. The Medical Center of Aurora is part
of HealthONE, the largest healthcare system in the
Denver area. The Medical Center of Aurora has received numerous awards for its heart and vascular services. It is the only hospital in Colorado with a Level 1 Cardiac Center and, in 2005, the hospital was designated a "Cardiovascular Center for Excellence" by its parent company, HCA. Only four of HCA’s 170 hospitals received the award. The hospital’s Cardiac Alert Program, a program designed to train and equip first responders to more quickly and accurately detect and treat heart attacks, has served as a model for heart programs across the country. The Medical Center of Aurora’s stroke, pulmonary, and critical care services also have been recognized by organizations that evaluate healthcare providers. Healthgrades.com, which ranks doctors, hospitals and nursing homes, acknowledged the Aurora hospital for clinical excellence in 2006. In 2007, 5280 magazine named more than a dozen doctors affiliated with the hospital among its "top docs," citing specialists in fields ranging from gynecologic oncology to neuroradiology. The Medical Center of Aurora opened its doors in 1974. It now employs more than 1,200 people on its three campuses in Aurora and Centennial, CO. In 2007, it was selected as the best place to work among large companies in Colorado by ColoradoBiz Magazine.
