Welcome to the southwestern Alberta's historic
Chinook Country, home to some of Canada's best
outdoor recreational activities and historic
sites. Whether you enjoy skiing, fishing, hunting,
hiking, horseback riding or visiting an art gallery
or provincial/national park you can do it all
in this area. The Chinook Region boasts
communities that offer warm, welcoming western
hospitality and some of the most spectacular
scenery in the country. It includes the following
communities: LETHBRIDGE is the largest
city in the region; it offers big city amenities
with rural charm. Access to shopping, outdoor
activities and cultural events are all at your
fingertips in Lethbridge. CARDSTON is
a thriving town of approximately 3,500 people
that serves a trading area of 15,000. The town
is nestled in the rolling foothills of southwest
Alberta, just 30 minutes from the majesty of
Waterton/Glacier International Peace Park.
The enterprising Town of COALDALE is located
12 kilometers east of Lethbridge. Coaldale has
a wide selection of recreation services and facilities
to enjoy. Located on the border between
Alberta and British Columbia, the CROWSNEST PASS,
encompasses about 6,400 people. The natural beauty
of this area makes it one of the best big-game
hunting districts in Canada. FORT MACLEOD,
as southern Alberta's oldest town, has a very
colourful heritage. It has a population of 3,000
people and has many recreational facilities year
round. The Town of MAGRATH, otherwise
known as the Garden City, is a small community
located south of the City of Lethbridge. It is
in the centre of some of the richest tourism,
recreation, ranching, irrigated agriculture,
and oil & gas areas in the province.
The Town of MILK RIVER is a small agriculture
centre located just north of the US border. The
town boasts many fine recreational facilities
and is located 42km east of Writing On Stone
Provincial Park. PICTURE BUTTE has a
population of 1,669, approximately 60 business
establishments, and excellent schools. Picture
Butte has an atmosphere of neighbourly hometown
living. Located on the edge of the Rocky
Mountains, PINCHER CREEK has water, mountains,
rolling hills, prairie, and some of the most
breathtaking scenery in the world. The
Town of RAYMOND lies just north of the Canada/US
international border and is just 20 minutes south
of the City of Lethbridge. Raymond is situated
near a large reservoir, which has camping, and
water sport facilities, great hunting and fishing
as well as Devil's Coulee dinosaur fossil sites.
The Town of TABER is a clean attractive
town of 6,000 people with a central, strategic
location. It is know for its varied agricultural
production and in particular its world famous
