Our services are described further as follows: The Vancouver service delivery area consists of Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, George Pearson Centre, G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre and the Mary Pack Arthritis Program. These sites include B.C.'s foremost teaching and world-renowned research facilities. The Vancouver service delivery area offers a broad range of Medical, Surgical, Extended/Continuing Care, Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Services, along with all advanced specialties, except Maternity and Paediatrics. Within the Vancouver service delivery area are also Vancouver Community health services that include a range of activities and programs organized by age and geography, as well as the introduction and expansion of addiction treatment and prevention services. Mental health services include clinical, rehabilitation and housing services for adults, seniors, children and families dealing with serious, ongoing mental illness. The Richmond service delivery area includes a 250-bed acute care facility, and a range of community-focussed, integrated health services, including Residential Care, Continuing Care/Home Care, Population Health, Mental Health, and Home Support Services. It serves a catchment area that includes the City of Richmond, part of Delta, Vancouver International Airport, and the BC Ferries system. Its areas of strength and clinical excellence include: Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Care, Gastroenterology, Hand Clinic, Maternal/Child Care, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Palliative Care, Rehabilitation Therapy, Sleep Disorders, and General Surgery. The Coastalservice delivery area provides health services in acute care, community and residential care settings for residents on the North Shore, Bowen Island, Lions Bay, plus Sechelt, Squamish, Pemberton, Whistler, Powell River, Bella Bella, and Bella Coola. Lion's Gate Hospital, the North Shore's 330-bed fully accredited acute care facility, is one of five Neurosurgery centres in B.C. With three other smaller acute care hospitals, a total of over 1700 residential care beds, diagnostic and treatment centres and community health services, the area offers many opportunities in a variety of settings.
