Prince Albert Parkland Health Region

 
The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region offers excellent opportunities for fulfilling careers while providing an exceptional quality of life. The Region is home to about 78,000 residents, about 41,000 live within the city of Prince Albert, and 95 per cent of residents are within 30 minutes of a hospital or long term care facility.

The Health Region is located over the geographic centre of Saskatchewan. The major centre and the only city located in the Region's boundaries is Prince Albert. There are 22 rural municipalities, 7 towns, 21 villages and 2 hamlets. The Region also has 6 resort villages, 12 First Nations and 4 tribal councils. There are also many acreages, farms, lakes, and outdoor camping sites as well. Wilderness abounds within the Prince Albert National Park, also located within the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region. Farming, forestry, tourism, pulp and paper are the area's major industries.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region offers a wide range of services, not only for the residents of the Health Region, but also for people from surrounding regions and Northern Saskatchewan. Twenty per cent of the Region's population are Registered Indians (15,480).

There are two hospitals located within the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, two integrated facilities, four community health centres and 12 long-term care homes.

Prince Albert Parkland Health Region has more than 50 Family Physicians plus 40 Physician Specialists providing services in the following areas:

-General Surgery, Orthopedics -Obstetrics and Gynecology -Ophthalmology -Internal Medicine, Radiology -Anesthesia -Psychiatry -Pathology -Otolaryngology -Urology -Pediatrics

The health region employs more than 2000 health care professionals and has an operating budget of more than $130 million.

Saskatchewan Health is currently offering two grants for health workforce employees: a Relocation grant for $5,000 and a Northern/Rural/Hard-to-Recruit grant for up to $15,000. Funding is provided to health workforce employees who agree to provide a specified return-in-service commitment to work in the province.
