We are thrilled to announce the first edition of the 2007 HealtheConnection eNewsletter! Each month we will bring you online resources, upcoming events, and informative articles as we continue to support your healthcare recruiting and HR management needs.
At HEALTHeCAREERS Network, we are committed to delivering you qualified candidates in a manner you find to be efficient and cost-effective. Last month, we were awarded WEDDLE's User's Choice Award, recognized by both recruiters and job seekers as providing the best level of service and value to their visitors and helping others make use of the best employment resources online.
We appreciate this honor, but want you to know that we recognize we can be better, providing you with even more value. Soon you should notice a number of changes across our products and services; including improved communications, comprehensive reach to top healthcare candidates, and improved site experiences, from user login to intelligently matching people and jobs.
Based on your feedback, we are introducing this eNewsletter as one way to provide you with more proactive HEALTHeCAREERS Network communications, coupled with an insightful and relevant information resource about your recruiting and employment efforts. In this issue we discuss the policies and practices of model employers, we examine effective ways for coaching managers and executives to further maximize their potential, and we address how to sell your job to attract high level candidates.
If there is ever a topic, idea or feedback you would like to share with us, please feel free to contact us anytime at 888-884-8242 or info@healthecareers.com.
Warm Regards,
Edward W. Pastorius CEO

Model Employers By Sheng Wang
Can a hospital be one of the top employers in the country? You bet! Seven American healthcare providers made it onto Fortune magazine's list of "The 100 Best Companies to Work For." In order of their ranking on the "100 Best Companies" list, these seven hospitals are: Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut; Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, Florida; Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois; Baptist Health South Florida in Coral Gables, Florida; the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia; the Bronson Healthcare Group in Kalamazoo, Michigan; and the The Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas.
Here are some of the policies and practices that have helped these hospitals attract staff, inspire loyalty, and become enviable places to work.

Ask the Expert
Question: How do I sell my job and attract high-level candidates?
Answer:
Compelling job postings! First, you need to be aware that the best and brightest have choices. They are highly valued by their current employer and sought after by other employers. You need to make your job stand out above the rest and give the candidate a reason to contact you.
Classified ads with very little detail are a thing of the past. Instead, job postings need to provide all of the detail necessary for a top prospect to make an informed choice between their current employer and a new one. They should be clear, comprehensive, and complete.
HEALTHeCAREERS Network provides 4,000 characters for your job description; use them to your advantage. If you want to get the most responses possible, you should appeal to both the intellectual and emotional sides of a top candidate. Most job postings will focus only on the responsibilities, i.e. "in this position, you will be responsible for doing this." But top performers want to know what the position will do for them and what type of day-to-day experiences they will have as an employee. Tell candidates the whole of the employment value proposition - what they will accomplish, who they will work with and what they will learn.
It is also a great idea to include community information such as size of town, climate and local activities. Many candidates will consider relocating if your location is more appealing than their own.
The highest quality candidates rarely look for a job; they look for career advancement opportunities. Job postings, therefore, must show how your organization will uniquely enable them to experience pride in their work, pride in their colleagues and pride in their employer.
