Highlights of new legislation adding tiers of licensure:
Last spring the 94th General Assembly passed HB780 (and SB308) which had language pertaining to the social work profession proposed by the NASW-MO Chapter and sponsored by Representative Sam Page.
Three new tiers of licensure were added and one was renamed;
LCSW's scope of practice was changed;
The committee hopes to have the rules completed soon and in place in order to begin issuing these new licenses in early '09.
NOTICE--Effective July 1, 2007, the Missouri State Committee for Social Workers will require that all applicants undergo a background check. The Committee will be using Identix Identification Services (Identix) to fingerprint applicants for licensure/registration. This is not a requirement for licensure renewal. Time that will not count toward continuing education includes awards, breaks and meals (unless there is a speaker). If you have any questions about calculating the clock hours available for continuing education programs feel free to contact the committee for clarification. Course approval forms may be downloaded from our website http://pr.mo.gov/.
Effective July 1, 2003, all persons and business entities applying for or renewing licenses with the Division of Professional Registration are required to have paid all state income taxes, and to have filed all necessary state income tax returns for the preceding three years. (more information)
