Be prepared for Election Day

November 4, 2008 looks like a record breaking election day nationwide, with more new voters than ever making their choices for president and vice president. Since the February 12 Presidential primary, the Bedford County Registrar's Office has handled 3,686 applications of which 1,115 are new registrants. Bedford County now has more than 45,104 registered voters. Statewide, as of August 15, Virginia has 4,773,602 registered voters with 220,681 new registrants. This is a net gain of 187,751 over last year’s totals.

The registrar has prepared two information sheets to help everyone negotiate election day.

Candlelight vigil for Domestic Violence Awareness October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Bedford Domestic Violence Services will hold a candlelight vigil to promote awareness on Tuesday, September 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Department of Social Services parking area (opposite the main entrance to the courthouse.
