Backcountry Dutch:
German Heritage & Decorative Arts in Frederick County
An examination of the influence of 18th and 19th century German immigants on the culture of Frederick County inaugurates the new special exhibition gallery. It includes paper crafts, such as frakturs and scherenschnitte; furniture made by German-American craftsmen; pieces from Johann Frederich Amelung's New Bremen Glassworks; textiles; Mackley pottery created in Thurmont; documents, photographs and more.
The exhibition will run through November 30, 2008.
