The Marshall County Historical Society is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2008!
Come join us for an exciting calendar of events - something new each month.

We are located on Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth, Indiana, in the Lauer Building.  We house the historic artifacts and research archives of the county.  Communities List

The Main Level houses our changing exhibits and special event programming.
Bring your family and browse the museum on your own or ask for a guided tour. Try out the “hands on” area for kids and be sure to look for our open houses and special activities each quarter and during school breaks.

Our Lower Level is the Mary Brumbaugh Library for genealogical and historic research of all kinds. Our Archive Manager and Research Library Specialist are available to provide customized research for you or they can assist you while you perform your own research

The Upper Level is the restored professional offices of the Lauer Building, featuring skylight ceilings and oak trimmed corridors. Our permanent collection is displayed in this architectural setting and tells the stories of our county and its people.

Fall Adventures Ahead!-----

October 25th, Spirits of Marshall County...Spectral Voices

Special Night at the Museum
Step into the past and listen to the voices of Marshall County tell about their lives and times from 1836 to 1986.  Meet some of the men and women who shaped our community.  They will talk about their careers and what it was like living in Marshall County as it grew from a wilderness to the modern community we know today.

The Marshall County Museum is hosting this event from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25.  It is estimated that it will take 90 minutes to hear all the stories, so visitors are encouraged to arrive at the museum between 7 and 8:30 to start the self-guided tour through the museum.

A dozen volunteers have agreed to assume the persona of a special character from Marshall County.  Each will talk from a first person perspective.

We are featuring pioneers, George Thomas (Bill Shidler) and Billy Abrams (Cory Andrzejewski); businessmen, Marc Lauer (Mark Gidley) and E. E. Furry (Bill Furry); museum curator Elsie Jacoby (Linda Rippy); teacher Katie Garn (Carole Sarber); stage and screen actress Lydia Knott (Anna Liechty) of Tyner; Frances, Mrs. “Pickle”, Smith (Judy McCollough); dressmaker Julia Thompson Harsch (Phyllis Schoonover); Bremen’s Clara Dietrich (Emilie Huffman); abstracter Julia Cressner (Sharon Dotta); and fireman Dr. R. C. Stevens (Larry Starr).

Tickets are $5.  Children under 5 are free.  Tickets may be purchased at the museum or from any Historical Society Board member.  There are a limited number of tickets for this event so get yours early.

In November, Christmas Photo Fundraiser:  Oh What Fun It Is to Ride in a One Hours Open Sleigh!
