Speak up at Community Forums

Sign up to speak at upcoming community forums on Sept. 18, 7–9:30 p.m., at Watkins Mill HS or Oct. 16, 7–9:30 p.m., at Albert Einstein HS. Speakers will address priorities for the 2009–2010 school year to improve achievement for all students. To sign up, call the Board of Education office at 301-279-3617, starting three weeks before each forum.

Governor tours Walter Johnson HS, College Gardens ES

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley visited Walter Johnson High School and College Gardens Elementary School Sept. 3. Both schools have received substantial construction funding from the state and county. Walter Johnson continues to undergo a multiyear modernization, and a modernized College Gardens reopened last January. The governor concluded his visits by speaking to Walter Johnson ninth graders in an AP government course and planting a tree in the College Gardens courtyard. Watch Video
