This has been a busy year for Becky Verespej. In addition to her duties as assistant coach of the Iowa Western Community College volleyball team, Verespej welcomed a daughter, Keira Grace, in February. The added responsibility of motherhood didn't negatively impact her coaching.

It seems like the economy has been going downhill all year. In October, unemployment reached 6.5 percent, its highest mark in 14 years. Tough economic times have a human cost. Without a steady income, a family's resources can dwindle until even basic necessities are not assured.

OMAHA - AEG Live, the promoter of Celine Dion's Taking Chances World Tour, has rescheduled the artist's Omaha concert at Qwest Center, originally scheduled for today, while Dion recuperates from a recurrent naso-pharyngeal infection which was further complicated by inflamed vocal chords. Her physician has instructed her to refrain from singing in order to completely recover.

It's time for turkey and dressing, warm nights by the fire and snow boots! It's a month for honoring presidents new and old. It's November. Let's see what local residents are up to as we ring in a new month!
