Celebrate the Gift of the Land!
Situated within the Prophetstown State Park and 5 miles north of Lafayette, Historic Prophetstown interprets a unique Indiana story. We are dedicated to enhancing public awareness of the history of the Wabash River Valley region of Indiana. Discover a three way mirror to the past that reflects the prairie, the Native American Settlement, and the 1920s Farmstead. This land holds valuable lessons about those people who hunted, farmed, loved, lost, and changed the land over the last 200 years.
Our Mission is to enhance public awareness of the history of the Wabash River Valley region of Indiana.

Annual
Meeting - January
21st
Special Guest
Speaker: Michael
Longcor
MICHAEL LONGCOR
has written and
performed music airing
on regional radio across
the U.S. and Europe,
and several of his songs
have won regional
songwriting competitions
and have been recorded
by other performers.
“I try to tell stories
about the guy in the
trenches,” he says,
“the everyday
heroes,
the truck drivers
and the lonely folks.
Of
course,
I also write
stuff that deals with
the humor of life, and
just like life, the
humor in my songs is
sometimes a little
strange.”
That sense of humor has
resulted in appearances
on the nationally
syndicated radio show, Doctor Demento. Michael
has also appeared as a
guest on National Public
Radio’s “Folksong
Festival,” hosted by
Oscar Brand.
He has also
appeared on “Acoustic
Blend,” a program
produced by NPR
affiliate WBAA.
Michael has
released a total of ten
CDs on the Firebird
Music label (based in
Portland,
Oregon).
He is currently
preparing to record two
more.
He also worked
with friend and fellow
singer-songwriter
Juanita Coulson to
prepare a concert of
traditional and original
songs on Indiana
History, which resulted
in a live album issued
by Dodeka Records,
“What’s a Hoosier?”
Aside from writing and
performing his music,
Michael has at various
times worked as an
insurance investigator,
employment counselor,
fencing instructor,
farm hand,
news reporter,
and blacksmith.
He shares a
140-year-old farmhouse
outside of
West Lafayette,
Indiana, with a variable number of
pets and guitars.
