RED WINGS FLY HIGH IN FINAL GAME What a way to end the season!
Garrett Jones' 23rd home run of the season may have been his biggest as he hit a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Rochester Red Wings past the Buffalo Bisons, 9-6, Monday afternoon at Frontier Field. The Wings finished their season 74-70.

43 MILLION FANS SET NEW MILB RECORD Red Wings fans were part of history Monday, as Minor League Baseball set a new attendance record for the fifth straight year thanks to the 316,765 fans who visited Minor League ballparks Monday on the last day of the regular season for most of the domestic full-season leagues. The Labor Day crowds allowed Minor League Baseball to surpass the 43-million fan mark in a regular season for the first time in its 107-year history. THANKS, FANS!

THE TWINS ARE IN.....THE PENNANT RACE! The Minnesota Twins head down the stretch fighting for both the AL Central Division title and the Wild Card spot, with 13 members of the 2008 Red Wings on Minnesota's current active roster...and Minnesota's Class A Fort Myers Miracle club advanced to the championship series this weekend against the Daytona Cubs. Miracle manager Jeff Smith said ace Matt Fox (7-7, 3.37 ERA in the regular season) will pitch Saturday night; Garrett Olson (0-0, 9.00) and Cole Devries (10-9, 2.93) will pitch in Games 2 and 3, respectively. Alex Burnett (8-6, 3.76) will pitch in Game 4, if necessary. Fort Myers' Game 5 pitcher hasn't been announced. Justin Morneau hit his fourth career grand slam and his second of the season, (last April 25 at Texas), in the fifth inning…Morneau is batting .397 (25-for-63) with three homers and 14 rbi vs. Detroit this season and has hit 14 homers and 53 rbi in his career vs. the Tigers...
Francisco Liriano is now 5-0, 1.44 (43.2 ip, 7 er) with 38 strikeouts in six starts since being called up…he improved to 10-2, 1.74 (98.1 ip, 19 er) in 21 career games at the Dome and the Twins are 16-5 in his home starts....Twins closer prospect
Rob Delaney was a second team selection on
Baseball America's 2008 Minor League All-Star Team. Delaney was a combined 3-3 with a 1.23 ERA and 18 saves between Class A Ft. Myers and Double-A New Britain, and is in the mix for the Red Wings' bullpen in 2009.
