Local business assembles survival kits for truckers during road closures

Loveland Reporter-Herald JOHNSTOWN — The owners of Johnson’s Corner did not like the thought of truckers stranded on Vail Pass during heavy snowstorms and road closures.
Nor did the couple, Chauncey and Christy Taylor, co-owners of the Johnstown truck stop, restaurant and bakery, want to see truckers go without food, water and other services under a new Colorado Department of Transportation law beginning this winter.

Crematorium helps pet owners past grief of loss
Losing one of two cats to cancer last February was a trying time for Loveland resident Gayle Hoebermann. Hoeberman adopted five more cats to fill the hole Bushka, a female calico cat, had left and began wearing a silver cat pendant to keep her companion of 17 years close to her heart. Losing Bushka would have been even harder if it were not for Rainbow Bridge Pet Crematorium, a Loveland business founded two years ago in November by two pet lovers.

Exotic wood
Smells of maple, walnut, oak and cherry bring back fond memories for Paul Rathbun.
As the son of an electrical engineer and skilled woodworker, Rathbun was destined to become a little bit of both.
“I suppose there was always a part of me that wanted to emulate my father,” he said. “He was always so inspirational.”
Rathbun will present his woodwork for the first time Saturday, Nov. 29, at Gallery East in Loveland.
