Our function is to license physical therapists (physiotherapists) and physical therapist assistants. The Board assures that eligible applicants are licensed and regulates continuing education, the use of assistants and any discipline of licensees.

The Board consists of five members appointed by the Governor. Three members are physical therapists who are licensed in the state and resident of New Mexico and two public members who are citizens appointed from the public at large who are not associated with, or financially interested in, any health care profession. All appointments are made for staggered terms of three years, and no member can serve for more than two successive three-year terms.
