Large yellow barites are commonly found on day trips
We have acres of colorful rocks for young geologists to hammer and take home

Big Rock Candy Mountain offers family-friendly nature tours to this BC Heritage, internationally famous crystal collecting area. Cominco’s Rock Candy Mine operated here in the 1920’s. For more history, click “The Mine”.

Your family can collect sparkling quartz crystal geodes, fine fluorite in green & purple, and beautiful barite, while enjoying spectacular mountain scenery & abundant wildflowers. Your guide will help you learn to collect, and explore the remains of the Rock Candy mine historic artifacts. Two levels of tours are offered to families. Click “Trips” for more information.

The mountain continues to produce museum-quality specimens of gemmy yellow barite on quartz and fluorite. We offer mineral collectors access to fresh vugs. Click “Trips” for more information. To book the more extensive collector trips for you or your group, click the link to “Geology Adventures”.

Big Rock Candy Mountain tours are operated by GeOdessey Ltd, a Canadian-owned, registered corporation, based in Revelstoke, B.C., and the Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce.
