Terrific support for Toonie Tuesday!
Student leaders from schools throughout the district worked together on October 7 for Toonie Tuesday,  a student-led fundraising day with a two-fold purpose: to help build a school for the children of Sierre Leone; and to help local children through the Food Banks. Called From 'Me to We in School District #83 . . . Together We Make A Difference', the day was organized by the District's Global Student Leadership group, led by vice-principal Will Fazan and principal Denise Brown. Fundraising efforts are now being tallied and will be announced in the near future. Seen above are just some of the students from M.V. Beattie in Enderby who donated $5 to the cause and received a lanyard and had their faces painted! If you need information about the North Okanagan Shuswap School District please contact the office at 250 832 2157.

Consultation on New M.V. Beattie
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD for MV Beattie, Ashton Creek, Grindrod, and AL Fortune Schools?

In April 2008, the Ministry of Education announced approval of a “feasibility study” for the replacement of M.V. Beattie Elementary School.
As part of that study, the Board of Education of School District No. 83 is required to examine alternatives to the existing configuration of schools in the Enderby area. Trustees would like the feedback of all communities served by MV Beattie, Ashton Creek, and Grindrod Elementary Schools as well as AL Fortune Secondary School.
On Thursday, October 9th, at 7:00 p.m. at MV Beattie Elementary School (in the annex gym) district staff will be presenting three options for Enderby area schools and looking for your input and preferences. The three options can be summarized as follows:
1) Having Grindrod, Ashton Creek, and MV Beattie remain as K-7 schools and AL Fortune as an 8-12 (status quo);
2) Converting MV Beattie into a K-8 Elementary-Middle School, AL Fortune into a 9-12 secondary school, with Ashton Creek and Grindrod remaining as K-7 schools
3) Converting MV Beattie into a K-8 Elementary-Middle School, AL Fortune into a 9-12 secondary school, and Ashton Creek and Grindrod into K-5 schools
Trustees will be looking for your feedback on these three options and/or any other options they should consider.
Please plan to attend this important meeting.
