BEEN THERE PROJECT
Been There …assists “at risk” youth who have to complete community service hours sentenced by the court. This unique project teaches young people all aspects of gardening on a three acre site surrounding the Visual Arts Centre. This project is under the direction of a former school teacher and avid gardener David Chisling B.A., B.Ed., M. Div., who has worked with young people throughout his career. Financial support for the Been There Project has come from: The Department of Justice Canada-Youth Justice Fund, George Vice through the Rotary Club of Bowmanville (a fund he established in memory of his late wife Kaye) and the Municipality of Clarington. For more information please contact David Chisling: revchisling@rogers.com

JAN MOFFATT MEMORIAL FUND
Established by Jan Moffatt (of Bowmanville) to assist persons with special needs who have an interest in the programs offered by the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington. Jan’s initial plan would make funds available to hire occasional-staff, trained to assist persons with special needs and purchase materials or supplies used to adapt ongoing programs to the needs of individuals. Initial discussions would take place between the VAC and persons with special needs to articulate the kinds of programming or equipment that is actually needed from the artistic community and within the ability of the Visual Arts Centre to provide.

The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington (VAC) is a not-for-profit charitable organization. Our mandate is to promote the creation, display and appreciation of the visual arts in the Municipality of Clarington. The VAC receives public funding from the Municipality of Clarington, The Ontario Trillium Foundation, The Ontario Arts Council, The Ontario Arts Foundation and The Ministry of Heritage and Status of Women. We also are supported by corporate and individual donors and by our membership and volunteers.

The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington has a 30 year history of providing quality exhibition and educational programming to our community.
