The Corporate Director of HIM acts as a liaison between the facility-level HIM Directors and system-level senior management and is responsible for supporting the formulation of Centura's evolving HIM system strategy. Director will initially be focused on: o Exploring HIM industry best practices, o Establishing and gaining consensus on an overarching HIM strategy for Centura, o Serving as the organization resource for regulations and standards that impact HIM operations and health information in general, o Conducting facility specific readiness assessments and gap analyses, o Establishing a suite of key initiatives and corresponding action plans to implement the HIM strategy, o Subsequently coordinating the implementation of each initiative, o Release of Information practices, o Records Storage-both electronic and paper-based and management of Centura's vendor partner, and o Transcription and other methods of clinical documentation capture and management of Centura's vendor partner. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree required. RHIA required. Masters degree preferred. Certified in healthcare privacy and/or security and clinical coding preferred. At least 5 years' experience as a HIM Director with responsibility for coding, transcription and compliance or privacy at an acute care facility. IDN experience preferred. EHR experience preferred. Advanced knowledge of relevant coding conventions and requirements preferred. Excellent communication and managerial abilities. Strong aptitude and proven experience in working with all levels of management. Proven project management skills with ability to handle multi-task environment. Ability to be entrepreneurial; always searching for creative and innovative solutions. In-depth knowledge of HIM key operational indicators, CMS, HIPAA, and Joint Commission. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
