The registered
nurse -RN- is accountable for the delivery of direct
patient care and for supervising the nursing care provided
by professional and ancillary nursing personnel. The
Staff Registered Nurse works in an inpatient and/or
outpatient hospital setting in one of over 64 specialty
care units. Opportunities exist for both experienced
RNs and new graduates. Work unit specialties within
the Department of Nursing include: Cardiovascular Medical,
Cardiovascular Surgical, Clinical Research, Dermatology,
Dialysis, Emergency Department- ER, Float Staff, Gastroenterology,
Medical, Surgical, Gynecology, Hematology, Infusion-
IV- Therapy, Nephrology, Neurology, Obstetrics, Oncology,
Orthopedics, Oral Surgery, Otolaryngology, Outpatient
Surgery, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation,
Thoracic, Surgical, Bone Marrow Transplant, Kidney/Liver/Pancreas
Transplant, Urology, Vascular Surgical, and Ventilator
Rehabilitation. In addition, there are over 10 critical
care units: Cardiac Medical, Cardiac Surgical, Heart/Lung
Transplant, Medical, Medical/Surgical/Transplant, Neurology,
Neo-Natal, Pediatric, Surgical/Trauma, and Thoracic/Vascular
ICUs.
Current student or graduate of a National
League for Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited associates, bachelors
or diploma nursing program within the last two years,
or at least one year of RN experience in an acute care
setting within the last seven years. Current Minnesota
registered nurse license or current license deemed
acceptable by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
CPR certification. Internal applicants are required
to submit their three most recent performance appraisals.
