Description:
Duties include instructing students, implementing
an evaluation system to evaluate student progress during
clinical training, acting as a liaison between the
training program and hospital personnel, and maintaining
various training records and manuals.
Full Time -- Within the context of a client and family centred care model, and in accordance with the Registered Nurses' Association of British Columbia (RNABC) standards of professional practice, Codes of Ethics, and the established vision and values of the organization, works in a team based environment and is responsible for both theory and clinical components of Perioperative specialty nursing and practical nursing training for students during their rotation through the designated hospitals. Works in close collaboration with the training program development and educational services as well as various Perioperative Services leadership teams to coordinate training activities for the students. Utilizes nursing knowledge and expertise, and strong facilitation skills to support students in the provision of care, provides information based on specialized theory/practice, assesses clinical skills and/or participates in direct client and family care as appropriate. Qualifications: Baccalaureate in Nursing plus three years' recent, related nursing experience in an acute care operating room environment encompassing learning facilitation, clinical teaching and/or client education or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current practicing registration with the Registered Nurses' Association of British Columbia. Comprehensive knowledge of nursing science theory, and practice within a client and family centred care model. Comprehensive knowledge of Perioperative nursing techniques and standards, and instrumentation and equipment set ups, for a wide variety of surgical procedures. Broad knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care. Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the RNABC and College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC).
