Description: We are a United Church Hospital affiliated with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. R.W.Large Memorial Hospital is situated waterside on the 'Inside Passage' amidst a rainforest environment.
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of service delivery systems, nursing supply chain management, staff configuration, policy and procedure and quality and risk management programs for the R.W.Large Memorial Hospital. The Director of Nursing provides leadership and management of nursing and para professional staff, ensuring that patients receive quality care across the continuum of acute and continuing care. The DON acts as the communication liaison between members of the multi-disciplinary team within the hospital, medical clinic and with health care professionals in the community to coordinate care. The DON is responsible for facilitating, in collaboration with others, the development and implementation of education and training strategies to support patient care.

Qualifications:
Current and active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) is required. Bachelor's degree in nursing, specialized education/and or combination of education and experience in critical care an asset. Seven (7) to ten(10) years recent related experience, including two (2) years of nursing leadership and (2) years of relevant nursing experience in critical care and emergency. Experience in rural nursing, working with different cultures and working with Aboriginal people is an asset.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial resources, monitor and address budgetary issues.
