We are a United Church Hospital affiliated
with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. R.W.Large
Memorial Hospital is situated waterside on the 'Inside
Passage' amidst a rain forest environment.
Responsible
and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of
patients and clients including diagnosing diseases,
disorders and conditions. Initiates treatment including
health care management, therapeutic interventions and
prescribes medications in accordance with the statutory
and regulatory standards, limits and conditions, and
employer policies and procedures. Provides professional
guidance to other health professionals and participates
autonomously as a member of the interdisciplinary health
teams making referrals to specialist physicians as
appropriate. This position will be located out of the
R.W. Large Memorial Hospital , with outreach service
to Ocean Falls and Klemtu. This position will take
a lead role in chronic disease management, provide
health promotion and disease prevention services, patient
and staff education. It will address the priority areas
of improving the health and wellness of the aboriginal
population and strengthening the primary health care
system through improving care for individuals living
with chronic conditions and prevention among those
at risk.
Collaborates with clients and other
health professionals to identify and assess trends
and patterns that have implications for clients, families
and communities; develops and implements population
and evidence based strategies to improve health and
participate in policy-making activities that influence
health services and practices. Participates in peer
review and self review to evaluate the outcome of the
services at the client, community and population level.
Responsible for own professional development and maintaining
competence in the position.
Current applicable
registration with the College of Registered Nurses
of British Columbia (CRNBC). Completion of a CRNBC
approved master's degree level nurse program or successful
completion of an approved Prior Learning Assessment
and Review (PLAR) process. Minimum of 2 years recent
relevant clinical nursing experience or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
