Qualifications:
• A Registered Practical Nurse
possessing a license from the applicable Provincial
authority and a Medication Administration Certificate.
•
Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification.
•
Strong knowledge base and experience in rehabilitation
and community social services.
• Excellent
team player with strong interpersonal and communication
skills.
• Responsible for the coordination
and case management of residents.
• Resident
care documentation.
• Facilitate and participate
in resident/family education utilizing adult education
principles.
• Able to respond to crisis situations
with demonstrated critical thinking.
• Able
to comply with the physical demands of the Residence.
•
Excellent organization and time management skills.
•
Health Assessment course required, or successful
completion required within six months of employment.
•
Demonstrated ability to function as a team player.
•
Demonstrated resident-focused care.
• Good
communication and interpersonal skills.
•
Second language is preferred.
• Preference
will be given to applicants with acute care, orthopedic,
Stroke Recovery, and/or rehab experience.
Key
Responsibilities:
• As the Registered
Practical Nurse, you will provide planned resident-oriented,
goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the
provincial standards of care.
• The RPN works
within an interdisciplinary team to provide resident
care.
• The nurse will ensure consistency
in approach and optimum benefit for the resident
by assessing, and identifying resident goals, planning,
implementing, and evaluating the resident's progress.
•
The RPN uses knowledge, skill and judgment to assess,
plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for a convalescent/
rehab resident population.
• The RPN functions
in a leadership role to organize the resident care
assignments.
• Regularly monitors and changes
the nursing plan of care for the resident.
•
Teaches and evaluates the learning of residents,
families, nursing students.
