2.0 JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Embryologist is a member of the Division of Women's Health. Responsible to the Manager of IVF for performing high quality IVF laboratory medical care at SSH. Consults and advises other staff groups regarding IVF laboratory issues and human assisted reproductive techniques (ART). Interacts with the Manager of IVF and other members of the service, administration, nurse, IVF physicians, midwives and patients.

3.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides services to couples seeking treatment for infertility, to include diagnostic and therapeutic.
• Performs in cooperation with the Manager (IVF) and the Junior Embryologist, daily routines in the laboratories and the facility.
• Evaluates patients before and after treatments as member of the IVF team.
• The Senior Embryologist works together with the Manager (IVF) and to coordinate work for an effective use of resources.
• Work for a good working environment where co-workers competence is monitored and developed.
• Responsible for the maintenance of equipment, installation and that disposables and equipment for the running of the laboratories are available.
• Maintains up to date knowledge of all the procedures and policies for the IVF- Unit and follows them at all times.
• The Senior Embryologist and the Manager of IVF are responsible for the IVF-Unit and follows them at all times.
• The Senior Embryologist and the Manager of IVF are responsible for the education of IVF Laboratory personnel and the work environment in the IVF laboratories.
• Maintains developmental competence by participating in courses and congresses within the field of work.
• Initiates, coordinates and performs development and research within human ART as instructed by the Manager of IVF.
• Ensures that regulations and laws for human ART in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are known and followed by the IVF Laboratory personnel.
• Adheres to the By-laws, rules and regulations of the SSH and assures that work is performed is in keeping with the established standards of the JCIA.
• Performs any other tasks and duties appropriate to his realm of knowledge, skills and experience as required by the Manager (IVF).
• Performs other tasks and duties within the scope of the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the job, as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

4.0 EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
• B. Sc or M. Sc in Reproductive Biology
• Licensure from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

5.0 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
• Has a minimum of five years experience in IVF procedures at recognized centers.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Competence in the use of instrumentations and methods for human ART.
• Experience in writing international articles and giving lectures in ART.
• Computer literate.
• For jobs where MOH licensure is required, there must no be any break in work experience in the previous 5 years.

6.0 SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
• Experience in embryo biopsy and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).
• Experience in working in the Middle East.

7.0 PHYSICAL EFFORT
REQUIRED:
• Good eye-site and fine motor skills required for performing egg collection, denudation of eggs, cryo-preservation of gametes and embryos and micro-injection techniques.
• Must be able to operate a computer keyboard
• Must be able to work by him / her for long periods of time in the dark.
• Not allergic to rubber or plastic gloves.

8.0 HOURS/SHIFT
WORK
Staff must be available to work one or all shifts in department
