Mercy Gilbert Medical Center opened in June 2006. At present, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has 92 private rooms with guest accommodations, with the capacity to expand to 400 beds over the next five years. An additional 40 acres housing a medical office building, research and lab facilities will complete the campus. With 41 hospitals in Arizona, California and Nevada, CHW is one of the largest healthcare systems in the West. POSITION REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develops goals, objectives, and action plans for departments. 2. Develops annual Scope of Services and Departmental Evaluations. 3. Informs the VP/CNO or designee regarding current unit activities, problems and actions through oral and written reports. 4. Plans and maintains a staffing pattern on the nursing unit which provides for the implementation of appropriate patient care on a 24 hour basis. Reviews staffing with the staffing coordinator as appropriate. 5. Develops, reviews, and revises nursing policies. 6. Participates in CHW Southwest joint projects as assigned. 7. Accepts administrative call responsibilities as assigned. 8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by Administration. 9. Maintains professional licensure/certification as required by position qualifications. 10. Demonstrates adherence to the Standards of Conduct. 11. Completes and turns in the Standard of Conduct Acknowledgment card. 12. Ensures employees completes and turn in the Standard of Conduct Acknowledgment card. 13. Fulfills compliance education requirements as directed by the Compliance Department or department management. 14. Ensures employees fulfill compliance education requirements as directed by the Compliance Department or department management. 15. Documents any new compliance policies issued during the course of the year were communicated to the required employees. 16. Meets patient satisfaction goals. 17. Meets DOC survey goals. 18. Meets turnover goals. 19. Provides leadership and direction to nursing personnel in accordance with nursing and administrative policies. Is accountable on a 24-hour basis. 20. Coordinates the development and implementation of departmental Performance Improvement. 21. Promotes open communication within the hospital, patient care unit, ancillary, support departments, and Medical staff. 22. Meets productivity benchmarks as required by CHW. 23. Designates completion of performance evaluations for staff. Approves recommendations for wage increases based on employee performance evaluations. 24. Coordinates continuing disciplinary action for technical staff utilizing Human Resource Policies. 25. Serves on designated Medical staff committees, Nursing committees, Administrative meetings, and any other committees as assigned. 26. Participates in planning, implementation, and monitoring for regulatory agency compliance. Completes investigations and action plans as required. 27. Contributes ideas to facilitate and improve patient care, unit operations, and organization processes and systems. 28. Achieves Community Board quarterly report card goals on at least 75% of the indicators. 29. Reviews reports for patient incidents, employee injuries, customer communications, and other necessary forms within designated time frames. 30. Effectively functions as a resource person and role model to staff for clinical and leadership issues. 31. Coordinates a minimum of ten staff meetings annually and submits minutes to VP/CNO or designee and Staffing Office. 32. Promotes departmental team building by developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. 33. Researches and submits capital requests. 34. Analyzes productivity and labor reports according to system requirements. Submits variance reports as indicated. 35. Prepares budget for the department(s) and assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of the unit relative to the budget. 36. Recruits, interviews, and hires staff, delegating as appropriate. 37. Assumes personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education. 38. Coordinates planning for new services. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 1. Associates degree required 2. Bachelor's degree preferred 3. Two years prior supervisory position within either a Cardiac Cath Lab or Diagnostic Imaging Center which included a Specials Lab 4. Previous experience with patient care modules or PC helpful LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION 1. Current RN Licensure in the state of AZ in good standing or ARRT and MRTBE 2.
