Eastern Health is inviting applications from individuals or groups to provide Occupational Health Physician services in support of the Organization's Occupational Health and Rehabilitation programs. Eastern Health currently employees one part-time Occupational Health Physician and is requiring additional services to fully service the region. The ideal candidate(s) will hold certification in Occupational Medicine (CCBOM or FRCP-C) and a minimum of five years of recent experience in Occupational Health. Applications from individuals without the formal certification and experience but who express interest and commitment to pursuing continuing medical education in the area, supported by Eastern Health, will also be considered. A minimum commitment of 35 hours bi-weekly is required however Eastern Health offers considerable flexibility related to hours of work and schedule. The Occupational Health Physician will provide regional services which will require one to two days of travel per month within the region. Interested professionals would have the opportunity to join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team of professionals working in the areas of Occupational Health, Injury Prevention, Occupational and Non-Occupational Disability Management and Return to Work, Employee and Family Assistance and Occupational Health and Safety. Eastern Health has identified employee health and safety as an organizational strategic priority and, as such, also works closely with its union groups in developing joint safety and return to work initiatives. The following services would be provided by the Occupational Health Physician: 1. Providing lead clinical direction and mentoring on occupational health and recovery management activities performed by the Occupational Health Nurses and Occupational Therapists. 2. Assisting in the development of policy and program development relating to occupational health and safety and disability management. 3. Providing occupational health physician services to employees affected by occupational and non-occupational illness or injury. 4. Advising human resources on disability-related accommodations requests. 5. Performing pre-placement medical examinations and independent medical assessments. 6. Acting as a resource to the Employee and Family Assistance Program and Occupational Health/Infection Control. 7. Participating on committees and working groups related to employee health and safety. 8. Liaising with the medical community to problem solve complex return to work and accommodations issues and to provide education on HCCSJ programs and resources.
