of Assistant Director, Provincial Public Health Laboratory,
St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Duties: This is a management position and the incumbent will assist the Director in all administrative, scientific and operational matters, provide leadership and supervision in the ongoing development and implementation of molecular diagnostics platform, quality management system, accreditation, etc., and will independently establish vigorous applied research and development programs in the area of clinical and public health microbiology and/or infectious disease epidemiology. Qualifications: This position requires superior scientific, managerial, research and hands-on technical skills and a comprehensive in-depth knowledge of clinical and public health microbiology obtained and developed through a PhD program and appropriate postdoctoral training in clinical and public health microbiology with certification, or eligibility for certification, by the Canadian College of Microbiologists (FCCM) or the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM). Previous experience in clinical or public health laboratory is essential. Candidates possessing an equivalent combination of experience and training may also be considered.
