The Iqaluit Family Practice Clinic is looking for an experienced Nurse practitioner to join our collaborative practice team, someone who is willing to live & work in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment in Canada's majestic north. Under the direction of the Manager Family Practice Clinic the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (PHC-NP) is expected to practice autonomously, as well as member of a collaborative team and be able to apply advanced nursing knowledge, skills and judgment providing comprehensive community health services within the context of primary health care to improve the capacity of clients to "adapt to, respond to or control life's challenges and changes". PHCNP is responsible for the delivery of primary health care services with particular emphasis on health promotion as well as applying advance nursing knowledge and skills in assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and treatment of illness. The PHC-NP is expected to assist individuals of all ages, families and or communities, in promotion, protection and restoration of health, in order to educate about, prevent and reduce illness and promote healthy living and wellness. A successful candidat: -must possess an undergraduate degree in Nursing, -have successfully completed a completed an approved Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner educational program (or its equivalent), -have a minimum of 1years recent experience functioning in a advanced practice role as an Nurse Practitioner (or its equivalent), -must be registered or eligible to register with the RNANT/NU as a Nurse Practitioner, -Knowledge of Inuit language, Communities, Culture, Land & Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset, -Ability to speak and function in Inuktituk and or French is an asset, -Basic CPR with annual certification, -ACLS certified or willing to become certified also required. Knowledge of Inuit language, Communities, Culture, Land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset. This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union and has a starting salary of $76,284 - $86,600 per annum, plus a Northern Allowance of $12,109.00 per annum.
