Leave behind traditional lower 48 practice and come gain a large, dedicated multidisciplinary medical staff who feel privileged to live in and care for a native Alaskan community rich in tradition and culture. Share the excitement and challenges of providing care to 30,000 people in 48 villages scattered throughout a region similar in size to the state of Oregon. Provide assistance to village health aides, sub-regional clinic mid-levels, and aero-medical teams extend health care to remote communities.

Within just a few minutes from the city of Bethel, you can experience a solitude that you will not find in very many locations in the US. Nature abounds, fishing and hunting is plentiful, and if you wish to leave your house on a dog sled, just step out of your front door and GO!

Eligibility for Loan Repayment up to $20,000.00 per Year:
This region is designated an underserved region and the Indian Health Services (IHS) has loan repayment programs available. Loan repayment is not guaranteed with offer of employment, as all employees must apply directly through Indian Health Services. Please check website: for more information.

Benefits & Compensation:
Benefits are excellent with extremely low co-pays for full health insurance. A single person pays just $50 bi-weekly; employee +1 pays $100 bi-weekly; and a family $150 bi-weekly. The retirement plan is outstanding with a matching program in addition to a generous amount put in your retirement for each and every employee. We have a signing and retention bonus listed under the compensation section. A very competitive relocation package offered.

Full-Time employee benefits include:
• PTO (paid time off) of 4.5 weeks per year for the 1st three years, 5.5 weeks for the next three years and 7.5 weeks after 6 years of continuous employment.
• $5,000.00 and 10 days are available for CME/CE.

General Clinical Practice Description:
Full spectrum, hospital based regional health care system with 50 beds, Level IV Trauma Center; routine and surgical OB; family practice, pediatric and specialty clinics, as well as dental, optometry, physical therapy providers. Regional medical care is supported by full spectrum lab services, 24-hour tele-radiology, telemedicine, specialty consultations and medevac services.

Responsibilities:
Position Summary: The Staff Physician shall be committed to contributing to the Mission of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation, "Working together to achieve excellent health".

1. Provides medical care to patients, whose care is entrusted to the Physician, doing so with the Corporate Mission in mind and in conformity with the administrative policies, procedures, and protocols of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital.
2. Serves YKHC loyally, diligently, and effectively and all times to exert his/her best efforts to promote the success of YKHC. Physician shall devote his/her time, energy, and ability to the interest of YKHC; and to the discharge of his/her duties and responsibilities in an efficient, trustworthy and businesslike manner. Physician shall do nothing, which will in any way impair or prejudice the name or reputation of YKHC.
3. Engages in the outreach health care activities of the Hospital/Sub-Regional Clinic to the villages of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta including, but not limited to, Radio Medical Traffic, village trips to provide medical services, rotations, through or permanent work at SRC's, and emergency Medevac flights to patients in the villages.
4. Participates in Hospital based patient care including, but not limited to inpatient care, outpatient clinic, emergency care and call; and, in accordance with published guidelines, in quality assurance and other medical staff activities, assisting and advising YKHC programs, in areas of the Physician's expertise.
5. Accepts membership on staff committees as assigned and to participate in the activities, deliberations and decisions of those committees within the context of the best interest of the patients, the Corporation and the Medical Staff.
6. Collaborates, mentors and supports the work of Midlevel Providers, including fulfilling collaborative physician requirements for the Alaska State Board.
7. Contributes to the training programs of Medical Students and Residents who are accepted into the training program for clinical rotations at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital.
8. Shares, in conjunction with other members of the Medical Staff, in the filling of a schedule to insure that the necessary services for providing health care to the population of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region are available to that population. Employee's duties and work schedules will vary, but shall be comparable, over time, to other full time clinical physicians.
9. Accomplishes those administrative tasks consistent with provision of appropriate medical care to assigned patients including the completion of medical records in a timely manner.
10. Abides by the Medical Staff By-Laws, policies and procedures.
11. Exhibits a professional, gracious, warm and caring manner with patients
12. Accepts additional (emergent or urgent) patients when necessary.
13. Accepts or returns phone calls and pages (if applicable) in a timely manner.
14. Takes initiative to resolve patient and/or personnel problems at point of service or through appropriate lines of authority in a constructive manner.
15. Provides and documents good quality patient care.
16. When on call, is available in a timely manner and responds with a courteous and professional attitude.
17. Will be expected to comply with requirements for PA-C State Licensure when assigned as a collaborative physician.


Qualifications:
-Minimum Education: Must have completed an accredited medical school.
-Minimum Experience: Must have completed a residency training program and be board eligible or board certified (unless specific exception is made) by the appropriate board of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.
-License, Certification, Registration: Must have Alaska State License and DEA License.
-Equipment/Tools/Word-Aids: Must have the computer skills needed to access computerized medical records.
-Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Needs the skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of their specialty.
-Supervisory Responsibilities: Ability to supervise medical students, residents, physician extenders and community Health Aide clinical practice.

Pay Grade: 84
Maximum Salary: 169563.92
Compensation Type: Yearly
Commission/Bonus: signing Bonus $15,000 after 90 Day Probationary Period, 5% of salary retention bonus after the first year and every year thereafter
