Working within your full scope of practice the Critical Care Float Nurse will be responsible to the Nurse Manager of the ER/Critical Care for providing skilled nursing care for patients in a combined emergency critical care setting at Valley Regional Hospital in accordance with the standards of the Nursing Program, and Mission, Vision and Values of the organization. Positions to commence as soon as suitable candidates are found. Salary and Benefits as per current N.S.N.U Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will join a diverse and progressive team of nurses, physicians and other allied professionals providing quality healthcare in Annapolis Valley Health. REQUIRED: • Registered in the Province of Nova Scotia; • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support; • Current Code Management or ACLS; • Minimum of 2 years recent (within 5 years) experience in a comparable Intensive Care environment. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WITH: • Baccalaureate degree in nursing; • Post basic course in Critical Care Nursing; • Certification in Critical Care Nursing; • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records systems • Certification in Emergency Nursing • Experience in triage of emergency patients • Current knowledge in Critical Care Pharmacology; • Experience in performing Shared Competencies and Delegated Medical Functions specific to the Intensive Care Unit; • Commitment to professional development. • Demonstrated effective ability in oral and written communication skills • Demonstrated abilities in: Team building/Leadership/Critical thinking/Working in a multidisciplinary environment. • Self motivated. Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Skillful in applying the nursing process in patient care. • Ability to promote/maintain good interpersonal relations in dealing with patients, families, visitors and co-workers. • Demonstrates planning, organizational and time management skills. • Demonstrates ability to communicate therapeutically through patient education. • Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment. • Exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past employment. • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
