PhyAmerica Government Services is currently recruiting qualified Registered Nurses to work to support the Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Program (SARP), Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), located at Naval Station, Norfolk, VA.

HOURS:
8.5 hour shifts. Clinic hours range from 6:30am - 7:00pm on assigned days. Shifts are assigned on a rotational basis within the time ranges specified as clinic demands dictate. Services may be required on Federal holidays.

DUTIES:
Perform a full range of RN duties including: triage; complete patient systems assessment and monitoring; use of patient monitoring and treatment equipment; appropriate nursing care, procedures, and treatments; execution of physicians' orders within the guidelines of standard nursing practice; documentation of patient care and observations; and patient education and emotional support.

Successfully complete the 3-day Psychiatric Care Course within 14 weeks of assignment. Course will be provided at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) at no cost to the contractor during the health care worker's regularly scheduled shifts.

Successfully complete the Psychiatric Nursing Department Medication Test within 30 days of assignment.

Successfully complete the Psychiatric Nursing Department Clinical Knowledge Competency Assessment Examination within 30 days of assignment.

Nursing competencies will be reviewed semi-annually to assess skill level based on Benner's Model of Novice to Expert.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Have education as follows: Either (a), a bachelor's degree in Nursing; or (b) a diploma graduate in Nursing; or (c) an associate degree in Nursing from a National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) accredited program.

Possess current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a psychiatric registered nurse within the last 2 years.
