series) seeks Physician to provide primary care, chronic
disease management and acute/emergency services.
I. JOB SUMMARY The job requires a fulltime Physican to provide medical services to the community of Unalaska, the Port of Dutch Harbor, and the fishing fleet of the Bering Sea. Staff Physician must provide primary care and acute care services as well as coordination of further treatment for clients. Participate in on-call rotation to provide urgent care and emergency response services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. II. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY A. Reports to: Medical Director B. Key Working Relationships: Medical Practitioners, Medical Support Staff, Behavioral Health Clinicians, Dentists, and Administration C. Primary Customer Groups: Patients and their families, community agencies (including MOA contractors, community organizations /groups), and employers D. Age of Clients Served: All ages IV. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Provide care to patients as allowed under Alaska law and within the scope and practice of IFHS. 2. Actively acquire medical knowledge and skills in areas pertinent to our patient population. 3. Maintain knowledge of current professional standards of assessment and treatment. 4. Maintain knowledge of and adherence to mandated ethical standards of professional behavior. 5. Provide appropriate care to patients, abiding by standards of care and IFHS Clinical Protocols. 6. Obtain appropriate consultation and supervision of procedures for patient care. 7. Provide on-call and emergency services to all patients in the region. 8. Work cooperatively and positively with all internal staff and ancillary agencies 9. Complete required documentation of services in a timely manner. 10. Participate in ongoing community education, including but not limited to newspaper articles, presentations, panel discussions, and public service announcements. 11. Board eligibility in specialty required. 12. Board certification in specialty preferred. V. REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Practical Experience, and Licensure: 1. A current license to practice as a Physician in the State of Alaska. 2. Compliance with continuing medical education standards established by the State of Alaska licensing regulations. 3. Possesses the ability to demonstrate multicultural awareness and sensitivity. 4. A current DEA license. Organizational Participation Requirements: 1. Attend bimonthly provider meetings when in town. 2. Participate in peer review processes including, but not limited to, monthly peer chart review, OB chart review and Morbidity and Mortality meetings. 3. Identify short and long term goals integrating provider interests and IFHS needs. 4. Participate in group processes as determined by Medical Director. 5. Provide consultation, supervision and teaching for other providers on an as needed basis when available. 6.
